Last night's dream time was not so kind
Car chases and bullies of various kinds
Waking this morning to the final day of the first half
Bring on the seventh month
And visions of gentler things

Monday

Dishes washed
Laundry done
Long awaited rain coming down
Fanning the humidity
Mulling over rewrites
Sweet company
Squawking magpies
Snoozy kitten

I like the start to this week

Going to the vet means...

strategic planning the day before
alterations to feeding schedules
(at first welcome then highly suspect)
sliding in and out of pocket doors
wildly fluctuating feeding schedules...breakfast at 4am
hot long car trip across town
up chucking upon arrival

all in all good to be seen
to be onced over
but maybe next time
come to our house
we'd be happy to have you
tabbylicious

Wednesday night checklist

27 degrees Celsius
Light filtered through dogwood
Kitty on teak table
(Post semi- traumatic vet visit)
Marigolds withering along the hedge
Brainwaves frozen on a steamy day
The comfort and company of striped moths
Blooming delphinium
All in all a good hump day

East patio/ West patio

heliotrope v. lantana

pansy v. liverwort
watermelon radish v. rainbow chard
bunnytails v. unicorn grass
coleus v. black ivy
portulaca v. straw flowers
asters v. anemones

and in between a carpet of shasta daisies
overseen by two favourites:
squirrel v.  magpie

seeds corms
and all in between

Intent on busting to the other side
Big spirit in a small swaddled package
And I remembered years ago
After a long night of japes and jesters
Calling but not recalling the number for pizza
The info desk saying 'please hold for that number...
The number is: 473 7373'
Funny how some things stay with you
And some just slip away

It seems only fitting that two recent blisters
(Palm and foot)
Should have appeared on right hand and heel
One from dandelion busting
One breaking in a new pair of boots storming around the nation's capital
Just a little reminder that when in doubt veer the other way:

Back a ways far ways from the busy streets

I would get far away from the sedans, SUVs and all the other guzzlers
And I would begin to etch away, carve away a path
