seated on the bus this morning
behind a man in a red parka and black toque
with 'hope' tattooed on the back of his neck in gothic lettering
...
this afternoon watching a woman walking across the street
with a small dog or maybe just her shadow
either way she had company
and we are all passengers

Basically...
just getting a little more comfortable with the idea that we are all of us melting bit by bit more as time goes by.
Dogwood
the branches are beckoning
to the small ones who flit in and out
all about
they shroud the white white bunny
turned a little too soon against brown grass
remnant leaves
a skiff of snow
a month to solstice
and then we head back again
cheeks to the sun
to the small ones who flit in and out
all about
they shroud the white white bunny
turned a little too soon against brown grass
remnant leaves
a skiff of snow
a month to solstice
and then we head back again
cheeks to the sun

Lumens
shorter days
filtered rays
not as much light to guide us on
but what makes its way
solaring through
is low
soft
comforting
like bumping into an old friend unexpectedly
however briefly
warm...welcoming...
deep dark now
shrouded
but tomorrow more buoyancy
the promise of brighter things
to come
for everyone

And then one day...
you wake up
and hope is on your doorstep
so you ask her in and make a pot of tea
you chat a bit about this and that
and without wanting to be rude or intrusive
wonder aloud about where she's been the last little while
and she replies that she would've come round sooner
but was busy and needed elsewhere
you have a nice visit but soon it is time for her to move on
you escort her to the door
thank her for coming
and in wishing her well on her way
ask her to come again
anytime
she promises she will
and then she flys away
and hope is on your doorstep
so you ask her in and make a pot of tea
you chat a bit about this and that
and without wanting to be rude or intrusive
wonder aloud about where she's been the last little while
and she replies that she would've come round sooner

Woollens
cotton fluff falling down
tucking in
blanketing rooftops
lawns
flowerpots
here
and there
here
and then
gone

flowerpots
here
and there
here
and then
gone
